The Business Visitation Program
This critical program offers interested parties the opportunity to receive an on-site “Business Needs Assessment” conducted by the mayor, director, and various MCEDC board members. These visits typically include a tour and interviews with plant executives and employees. By facilitating open communication between business and city government, all concerns are heard and addressed. MCEDC can then put into motion specific plans to benefit the business involved.
The Business-to-Business Network |
 |
By initiating networking programs between area industries, their leaders, and suppliers of products and services, we facilitate the exchange of ideas and economies that help businesses remain competitive. With the ongoing aid of agencies such as the Urban Enterprise Association, Michigan City Chamber of Commerce, independent media and trade associations, we provide an environment in which businesses can continue to thrive in the community.
State Assistance Development
In tandem with local companies, MCEDC assists in obtaining grants and commitments from state and local government that cover all, or part of, the costs for training and infrastructure.

The Tax Abatement Program
The MCEDC works with local and state governments to ensure graduated real estate and personal property tax relief available to qualifying companies. The MCEDC also administers the program, assuring both accountability to the approving bodies and expeditious response to the applicant companies.
